FROM THE DIRECTOR, SR MARY GEASON.

Greetings from Mukuru Promotion Centre in Nairobi.
It is indeed a privilege to be involved in this organization that serves the communities of the Mukuru slum villages. We aim to empower the communities to take their proper place in Kenyan society. We run various programs all designed to fit together to achieve this aim. Naturally, education plays a significant role – there are many shining examples of children who have been educated in one of the Mukuru schools who are now successful in their chosen fields, for example, in communications, education, the law, medicine, social work and community work.

Health, and social development activities contribute to the well-being and participation of community members in matters of importance to them. The sponsorship program for on-going education for our pupils caters for more than 170 pupils to further their education. This program engages many local and international well-wishers who wish to contribute to the development of the children of Nairobi.

We rely heavily upon our generous donors to continue the work of the Centre. This year, 2008 is the first of a four-year strategic plan period. The challenge for the Centre now is to ensure the full implementation of the plan that provides significant benefits for the Community, and to keep faith with our supporters to ensure that the work can continue.

We hope that you enjoy looking at our website, and that you might be inspired to support us in whatever way is possible for you – through your interest, prayers, time or through sponsorship of some of our works. We value the contributions of so many people to our activities in many different ways.
